Volunteer GCSE English Tutor (Online Group) – Role Summary
Refugee Education UK (REUK) seeks a dedicated Volunteer GCSE English Mentor to help young refugees and asylum seekers overcome educational barriers and prepare for their English GCSE exams. This role involves planning and delivering engaging weekly online group “classroom style” sessions from at least April 2025 to July 2025, supporting young people aged 14–25 in a safe and inclusive environment. We would also look for someone to start with us for the new academic year in September
Key responsibilities include collaborating with a co-tutor (if applicable), liaising with the Mentoring Coordinator, and ensuring safeguarding standards are met.
The weekly commitment includes:
- 1-hour online group session (with flexibility to extend up to 1.5 hours), starting at 5:30 PM on a weekday to accommodate student availability.
- Around 1.5 hours of planning and administration, which includes preparing session materials, sending reminders, and completing feedback forms after each class.
REUK provides induction training, ongoing support, and access to an experienced volunteer community. This voluntary position is ideal for individuals with teaching experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to promoting the wellbeing of young people.
