Functional Skills (English and Maths) tutor(s) – BOURNEMOUTH / POOLE AREA

*We are looking to hire additional contractors for in-person Functional Skills tuition (potential September 2025 start).

*KS2/3 = £33.00/hour; KS4+ = £36.00/hour. Sessions typically 2 hours each. Work is term time only, with negotiable days/times and potential for multiple students back-to-back.

*We are a provider of Alternative Provision.

*Perfect opportunities for former or part-time teachers.

*A full recruitment process and sample interview lesson will take place, along with all the usual personnel checks and reference requests.

*Current clients: parents (state and private), schools, multi-academy trusts, LEAs, alternative provision organisations.

*Tuition to take place on site at a student’s home, public library, or FOUNDRY Poole (Dolphin Centre) main office.

Must have:

  • Confidence and passion for English and Maths.
  • Ability to project-manage yourself.
  • Experience with preparing students for examinations (Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2).
  • DBS Enhanced certificate (within last 3 years).
  • DBS Update Service subscription.
  • PGCE/QTS and degree.
  • Safeguarding Level 2 training (or be prepared to acquire).
  • Self-employed status (or be prepared to acquire).
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have access to own reliable vehicle.
  • Valid tutoring insurance (or be prepared to acquire).
  • Experience of working with students with SEND.
  • Strong ICT and communication skills.
  • Good personality and empathy.
  • Up-to-date CV which includes full employment history.
  • Access to all qualification certificates for validation.
  • Understanding of the importance of safeguarding, and will follow all policies and procedures.
  • Minimum 2 relevant referees for references

 Prefer:

  • Experience of teaching in a school/college.
  • Ability to offer additional subject(s), e.g. ASDAN short courses.
  • Commitment to a student(s) for the mid-to-long-term.
  • Open to development/training opportunities.
  • Business insurance on motor policy to allow you to transport students (if applicable).
  • Invigilated examinations, including Functional Skills.
