STEM Trainer
Please note this role does not require deep technological knowledge of the engineering sector. We are looking for a great teacher for this role and this is more important than technical subject knowledge. The company is well resourced and the right candidate can be trained in house.
EA Technology is a leading provider of innovative engineering solutions for the electricity sector, specialising in asset management, network design, and smart grid technologies. With a strong focus on supporting the transition to a low-carbon future, we work closely with network operators, utilities, and industry partners to deliver practical, data-driven solutions that improve performance, reliability, and sustainability.
We combine deep technical expertise with a collaborative approach, enabling us to develop and deliver cutting-edge tools, training, and consultancy services. EA Technology, are committed to developing people, driving innovation, and shaping the future of energy networks.
The Candidate
We are looking for someone who preferably has teaching/training experience as well as industrial experience in electrical power engineering. However, it may also suit a candidate with different engineering experience but who is willing to learn about the power industry, we would definitely be willing to support the right candidate in developing their subject knowledge. If you don’t have any industrial experience we will consider an ex-teacher, preferably of maths and/or physics.
The majority of the work we have available is based at a remote location in NG22, North Nottinghamshire, it is very difficult to reach by public transport and so you must be able to drive and have access to a car for this purpose. The work is usually 31 hours per week, Mondays 11-4, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays 9-4, and Fridays 9-12. On other weeks, the work is 9-4 Monday to Thursday only.
We are looking for someone to deliver the Level 3 Subsidiary diploma in Power Engineering to apprentice groups, the modules are as follows:
Engineering maths (most suited to an ex- maths or physics teacher)
Further engineering science (mechanical & electrical engineering) (most suited to an ex- maths or physics teacher)
Power network apparatus & design
Managing resources in the power industry: Transmission & distribution
Engineering & environmental health & safety
Ideally, we would like to find someone who can deliver all of these modules. Alternatively, we are also interested to hear from candidates who maybe able to deliver the maths and science units, or the industrial units. The candidate should have at least a level 4 teaching/training qualification but preferably a PGCE, and have experience of delivering to groups of up to 25 students.
Initially, we are looking for someone who can work occasional weeks over the forthcoming months, however, for the right candidate there will be more work and possibly a full-time position. A permanent full-time position would involve travel to other places within the UK, including to our office in Chester. It could include delivering training on other courses including levels 2 and 4. The salary for a full-time permanent position would be in the region of £46k. A full-time trainer does not actually deliver training full-time, they would also have time for admin, resource development, marking, meetings and their own training.
Daily rates are between £250 and £350 depending on experience and qualifications.
To apply please email Academic Lead & Former Geography Teacher Alison Ball alison.ball@eatechnology.com with your CV and cover letter outlining why you are suited to the role. Alternatively, if you would like further details or have any specific questions please do not hesitate to get in touch.
