Licence Spotlight Conversations is a short online chat with Katie Stickley from Did Teach and a licensed business we work closely with.
It’s an opportunity to hear directly from the Founder about what they love about their business. It’s also a chance for you, the teacher, to get a feel for the licence model – is it a good fit for you, do you want to know more?
In this episode, Katie chats with Karen Gibb, Founder of Mind Marvels to find out about the work they do in schools, empowering children to find inner calm.
Karen discusses her licence model and why this is a great fit for teachers who are looking to run their own business with the support of a proven model.
Are you an ambitious entrepreneur ready for your next rewarding challenge?
About Mind Marvels
Mind Marvels is an award-winning business created by Karen Gibb. Karen is a fully qualified teacher and has prior experience in youth development and early years education.
She taught young people with social, emotional and behavioural needs and pupils with severe and complex additional support needs, including autism and ADHD.
Through her work, Karen saw the benefits for children when they were taught practical ways to support their own emotional wellbeing – but also that many didn’t have access to this.
“As an anxious youngster myself, I now make a direct, positive impact on children and their emotional wellbeing.”
Mind Marvels gives children calming tools and practical strategies to understand their emotions, feel more confident, build resilience and learn skills for life.
Mind Marvels has expanded through its licence model to deliver wellbeing sessions in schools, nurseries and communities across the UK.
Those Who Can – Thoughts
Karen set up her business from a really good place, and from speaking to her it’s clear that her core values are embedded in everything she does: Always Be Kind, Make a Difference Every Day, and Educate with Empathy. Teachers everywhere will recognise those same values as the reasons they entered education.
This is why Mind Marvels is such a strong choice for those who want to set up their own wellbeing business – it aligns so closely with their beliefs.
Karen also highlights some of the pitfalls of starting from scratch without support, and how the licence model offers the structure, training and community to help people succeed.
Staying true to her teaching background, Karen has created bespoke training and resources for licence holders, including guidance on working with schools and accessing funding to support wellbeing initiatives.
On the whole, Mind Marvels is a values-led licence model that feels like a community. Karen and her team welcome input from license holders and work collaboratively to grow. This is great news for anyone who wants more autonomy and the chance to shape their own business while making a real difference.
Please watch the video and get in touch with Karen if you believe Mind Marvels is a viable fit for you.
