Primary Teacher To Nature Teacher

From Teacher To Forest School & Nature Teacher With Little Muddy Boots

In my career, I have worked as a nanny, tutor, and primary school teacher. Since having my son, I wanted a more flexible career that supported my family. Initially, I investigated starting a business on my own but was nervous about doing it without any additional support, so I started to investigate franchise opportunities.

I Have Always Had A Passion For Nature & Gardening

Since becoming a mum two years ago, I really understand just how important it is to get children (and parents) outside and involved in nature. Watching my son’s eyes light up as he investigates every new flower, insect, and leaf has been so wonderful to watch. Now I get to provide other families with the opportunity to experience this joy.

It’s Wonderful To See The Impact On Both Children & Parents

I was drawn to Little Muddy Boots because of this emphasis on outdoor education and having lessons that work throughout the year, encouraging families to be outside no matter the weather. Hannah Brewer (the company’s founder) is passionate about nature, wildlife, and outdoor learning opportunities. The lessons she has formed through her many years of experience mix free play with more structured activities which, as a teacher, really appealed. What I really love, now that I am running the classes, is that it’s clear to see I am not only inspiring the children, but the parents too. After classes, parents talk to me about what they have learnt and leave excited about how they are going to extend this learning at home with their child. It’s wonderful to see the impact I am having on both children and parents.

I chose Little Muddy Boots, because of this, but also because of the support I was offered setting up my own business. Hannah has been there for me since the beginning to help me get the business set up and running, supporting in areas that I didn’t have experience in and helping to answer any questions that have arisen.

Families Can Learn Together

I enjoy being outside so much and now I get to do that all the time and it’s my job! I get to use my experience as a teacher and apply it to something that I truly believe in. Children thrive being outdoors, it’s so good for their learning, development and wellbeing. I see Little Muddy Boots as a place where families can come together to learn, meet new people and play in the great outdoors. In terms of my own career and development, I have learnt so much too, about nature, about running my own business and I am excited about watching my business grow.
