Kings Camps – Building On Skills That Start In The Classroom
Who Are Kings Camps?
Kings Camps are part of Kings Active Foundation, a registered charity that deliver sports and activity camps for children and young people aged 5–17 across the UK during the school holidays. Our programmes focus on sport, confidence-building, and staying active in a safe and supportive environment. At the heart of what we do is our mission to get children active, having fun and learning together.
For both our coaches on-site (known as ‘Red Tops’) and the children who attend our camps, we provide a unique opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and attributes that can’t easily be cultivated in a traditional classroom setting.
Whether you’re looking to continue your career in teaching and education, or you want to use your existing skills within a new field, Kings Camps could be a perfect opportunity for you!

“I’ve gained confidence by moving around and meeting other like-minded people. From students you can share ideas with, to experienced teachers who you can learn from. It’s enjoyable and beneficial to be trusted to lead your own group too. It allows you to stand on your own two feet and has helped me to develop my own teaching and coaching style”

Working at Kings Camps is a unique and rewarding experience because no two days are ever the same. As a coach, you’re constantly engaging with children through a wide range of sports and activities, which keeps the role fun, active, and varied.
One of the most rewarding parts is seeing the impact you have on the children. Whether it’s helping a child build up their confidence and making a real difference between day 1 and day 5, learn a new skill, or simply enjoy being active, you can really see the difference you’re making each day. It’s also a very team-focused environment. You’re working alongside like-minded people, building strong friendships, and supporting each other to create the best possible experience for everyone on camp.
“I love the fact that every day is different; there are so many activities for the children to do.”
- Velash, Red Top – Primary school teacher
What’s Your Favourite Memory From Working At Kings Camps?
“My favourite memory of Kings Camps was my first day, I had come in a little bit nervous as I didn’t really know what to expect. Shortly after I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms by all the kids. I think in their own way, without knowing, they reassured me that I had nothing to worry about.”
- Emma, Red Top
Whether it’s building confidence, developing leadership skills, or creating lasting memories, the impact of Kings Camps extends far beyond the school holidays. For both children and Red Tops, it’s an experience that shapes personal growth in ways a classroom simply can’t replicate. If you’re looking for an opportunity to make a difference, grow your skillset, and be part of something meaningful, Kings Camps could be the perfect place to start your journey.
