New Babywearing Dance Classes Launch Across the UK – Supporting New Mums to Move and Connect

When teachers think about career options beyond the classroom, they often look for roles that still centre around people, wellbeing, and making a meaningful difference. That is why new franchise concepts like Sling Tots are worth paying attention to, not just for what they offer families, but for what they represent in terms of career direction.

Recently launched by the team behind Tappy Toes, Sling Tots is a postnatal dance and movement programme designed for new parents. The concept is simple but thoughtful: parents attend classes with their babies in a sling or carrier, allowing them to rebuild strength, connect with others, and support their own wellbeing, all without the need for childcare.

Founder Claire Munday explains:
“My children are older now, but how I wish there had been something like Sling Tots around when they were babies. I would have absolutely loved to do a class like that with mine, especially my daughter who had terrible colic and never wanted to be put down! I can’t believe we haven’t done this sooner to be honest. I’m so excited to share it with the world.”

At first glance, this might feel far removed from teaching, but when you look more closely, the alignment is clear. The programme is built around many of the same values that draw people into education in the first place, including supporting development, building confidence, and creating a sense of community.

What stands out particularly is the emphasis on connection. The early months of parenthood can often feel isolating, and Sling Tots is designed not just as a physical activity but as a space where parents can feel supported and understood. This mirrors something teachers already do exceptionally well, creating environments where people feel safe, included, and able to grow.

From a career perspective, opportunities like this highlight an important shift. Increasingly, franchises are being developed around wellbeing, relationships, and community impact, rather than purely transactional services. For teachers considering a move into business ownership, this means there are now options that feel aligned with their existing skills and values, rather than requiring a complete change in direction.

It also reinforces a broader point we see across many franchises: teachers are not stepping away from working with people; they are simply doing it in a different context. Whether supporting children, families, or new parents, the core skill set remains the same: communication, empathy, organisation, and the ability to build trust.

While Sling Tots is currently launching in selected locations as a pilot, Manchester, Southport, Watford, Chelmsford and Forest Hill (London), with plans to expand into further locations across the UK from September, it reflects a wider trend of purpose-led franchises growing across the UK. For teachers exploring what comes next, these models offer a way to remain connected to meaningful work while gaining more flexibility and autonomy.

At Those Who Can, this is exactly the type of opportunity we encourage teachers to explore. Not because it is the right fit for everyone, but because it demonstrates what is possible when businesses are built around people, rather than processes.
