Thinking of leaving the classroom, but not education?

A Day in the Life of an EDClass Teacher: Education, But Not As You Know It
Thinking of leaving the traditional classroom, but not education? Discover a whole new way to teach, connect, and inspire at EDClass.

8:30am: The Day Begins – Logging in with Purpose
The school bell might be silent, but the sense of purpose is loud and clear. At 8:30am, the EDClass teaching team logs in—not to face a noisy corridor or a full assembly hall, but to prepare for a dynamic, supportive, and deeply rewarding day online.

Our day starts with a timetable set by the Head of Teaching and Learning, designed to make the most of our time and talents – we might be checking learner progress, marking learner’s work or updating schemes of learning – all to get ready for the day.

9:00am: EDsupport – Teaching with Heart
First up: EDsupport. This is the heartbeat of EDClass—our unique approach to supporting vulnerable learners who are accessing education differently. Through live, face-to-face online interactions, we connect with learners who may have faced trauma, anxiety, exclusion, or other barriers to traditional learning.

Using a trauma-informed approach and holding unconditional positive regard for each learner, we’re not just supporting academically—we’re here to listen, reassure, and build determination. Every learner’s situation is different, and we meet them where they are, offering both pastoral and academic guidance. Some learners need help getting through a maths problem; others need help believing they can.

Whilst supporting learners face-to-face online, we use a range of interactive methods such as visualisers, whiteboards and animations to keep them engaged. This allows us to tailor lessons to suit the learner, track a learner’s progress and focus on what really matters: building relationships, inspiring curiosity, and guiding learners toward brighter futures.

Safeguarding is central to every interaction. At EDClass, keeping learners safe is not just policy—it’s our practice.

12:00pm: Lunch Break – Recharge and Reflect
A chance to step away from the screen and refresh. With flexible working and a supportive team around you, there’s time to reflect on the morning’s progress—and maybe even share a success story or two in the staff chat. Lunch breaks are flexible, giving you the time to eat – maybe even take a walk – the choice is yours!

12:30pm: Curriculum Creation – Creativity Meets Curriculum
After a morning of meaningful connections, it’s time to turn our creativity into impact. Using tools like ClassPoint, we develop engaging, interactive content that supports a wide range of learners. One moment you might be building an interactive lesson with animations; the next, crafting thought-provoking content to film on locations around the UK to bring the learning to life.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all curriculum. We design content that re-engages, motivates, and inspires. Whether it’s building a scheme of work for key stage 2 or 3, or planning a revision module for GCSE learners, every lesson is tailored to help learners rediscover the joy of learning.

3:00pm: Filming and Future Planning
Afternoons might mean filming new lesson content, developing differentiated pathways for learners, or collaborating with colleagues on cross-curricular projects. Working with the media team to film on location adds a whole new dimension to the teaching experience—imagine delivering a geography lesson at a local landmark or a science experiment from a lab set!

We also spend this time reviewing learner progress, completing marking with constructive feedback, and identifying learners who may need additional support or safeguarding attention from our trained team.

4:00pm: Wrapping Up – Progress and Purpose
As the day ends, there’s a sense of achievement that comes from knowing you’ve made a difference—not just in delivering lessons, but in supporting lives. The EDClass mission is to help every learner find their way back to confidence, success, and ultimately a positive destination. And as a teacher here, you’re right at the centre of that journey.

5:00pm: Signing Off – A Clear Boundary for Balance
At 5:00pm, the day ends—and it really ends. EDClass staff go home without taking any work with them. No late-night marking, no planning over the weekend. Our structure is designed to protect your wellbeing as much as our students’. It’s a key part of the excellent work-life balance we promote and protect.

You’ve given your energy and care throughout the day—and now, your time is truly your own.
