Centre Manager – A New Direction for Your Career in Education
Ready for a new challenge beyond the classroom, without leaving education behind?
Your experience in education could take you further than you think.
You’ve spent your career helping young people develop, building relationships with families and bringing out the best in those around you. Now imagine using those same skills to lead a team, grow a business and continue making a lasting difference to children’s confidence in maths.
At Mathnasium, you can take your career in a new direction with the backing of an established global education brand.
Founded in 2002, Mathnasium has over 20 years of experience helping children build confidence and develop a deeper understanding of maths. Today, the Mathnasium Method is delivered in more than 1,200 learning centres worldwide, with a growing network here in the UK.
We’re looking for a Centre Manager to lead one of our dedicated maths learning centres. This isn’t a classroom teaching position, but an opportunity to combine your educational experience with the challenge of running and growing a successful centre. You’ll receive comprehensive training in the Mathnasium Method, sales and business operations, along with ongoing support as you develop your commercial leadership skills.
What will you be doing?
Think about the skills you use every day in school. Leading colleagues, supporting pupils who have lost confidence, managing competing priorities and finding new ways to help children succeed.
Now imagine putting those skills to work in a different environment, where you’re responsible for leading and growing an entire maths learning centre.
You’ll still see those moments that make a career in education so rewarding, like the child who finally understands something they’ve struggled with for years. But you’ll also have the opportunity to develop new skills, take responsibility for commercial decisions and see the direct impact of your leadership on a growing business.
Here’s what that looks like in practice:
● You’ll lead the centre, not just a team. From the experience families receive when they walk through the door to how your centre performs, you’ll be responsible for making it a place people want to be part of.
● You’ll bring out the best in your instructors. You’ve probably spent years coaching colleagues, mentoring newer teachers or leading a department. You’ll use that same experience to develop your team, build their confidence and help them deliver the Mathnasium Method.
● You’ll see the difference you’re making to children. You’ll carry out assessments, identify where students need support and oversee their personalised learning plans. You’ll get to celebrate the progress that happens when a child starts believing they’re good at maths.
● You’ll build relationships with parents that last. You already know how important communication and trust are. You’ll guide families from their first enquiry through to enrolment, keep them informed of their child’s progress and make sure they feel part of your centre.
● You’ll become a familiar face in your community. Whether it’s working with local schools, getting involved with PTAs or attending community events, you’ll build partnerships that introduce more families to Mathnasium.
● You’ll learn what it takes to grow a business. You’ll manage enquiries, convert prospective families into members, monitor enrolments and retention, and take responsibility for your centre’s financial performance. You won’t be expected to arrive with all this commercial experience; we’ll provide training in the business side of running a Mathnasium centre.
Could this be your next step?
Perhaps you’re a Head of Department, Head of Year, Assistant Head or Deputy Head looking for a new challenge. Or you’re an experienced teacher ready to take your career in a different direction.
Sound familiar?
● You’ve led colleagues, mentored others or taken responsibility for an area of school life.
● You’re confident building relationships with parents and helping children overcome challenges.
● You’re organised, proactive and comfortable making decisions and taking responsibility.
● You’re excited by the opportunity to use your existing skills in a new environment and learn how to grow a business.
A degree is preferred and a maths background would be an advantage, but neither is essential for the right candidate.
Never worked in sales or managed a business? That’s fine. We’ll give you the training and support to develop those skills.
What can you expect from Mathnasium?
We know that moving away from teaching is a big decision. Here’s what you can look forward to:
● Salary and performance-related bonus: [Insert confirmed salary and bonus for this centre.]
● Training and ongoing support: Learn the Mathnasium Method and develop the commercial, operational and leadership skills needed to run a successful centre.
● Real responsibility and autonomy: Take ownership of your centre’s performance, develop your team and play a direct role in its growth.
● Opportunities to develop your career: Build valuable business management experience as part of a growing UK network.
● A team you can shape: Recruit, coach and develop your instructors, creating an environment where both your team and students can thrive.
● Additional benefits: Your birthday off and discounts for family and friends.
And importantly, you’ll still experience those moments that made you passionate about education in the first place, watching children gain confidence, overcome challenges and discover what they’re capable of.
A new direction. The same sense of purpose.
You don’t have to leave behind the parts of education you love to explore a different career.
At Mathnasium, you’ll continue making a difference to children and families, while taking on a new challenge, developing commercially and shaping the success of your own centre.
You’ve spent years helping others reach their potential. Could this be the opportunity to explore yours?
