“The Staff Room is an A star podcast. Who knew teachers were often worse than the kids?” – Jack Carroll
Manchester comedian and writer Harry Stachini has just launched ‘The Staff Room’, a brand new podcast delving into what teachers really have to say in the staff room.
Inspired by Harry’s own experience as a teacher, the weekly show will share anonymous stories from teachers across the UK surrounding what it’s actually like to educate our future leaders, athletes, entrepreneurs and – let’s face it, statistically – criminals. In each episode, Harry will be joined by a fellow special guest comedian as they explore the teacher’s tale from all angles and take a trip down memory lane to their own school days to remember the good, the bad and everything in between. Harry’s guests include Britain’s Got Talent & Live at The Apollo very own Jack Carrol, 8 Out of 10 Cats Josh Jones and multi-award-winning comedian Jack Gleadow. Plus many more.
Listeners can expect plenty of laughs, toe-curling moments and extreme teaching methods, suitably delivered in Stachini’s witty and lighthearted style. While it may not receive an ‘outstanding’ rating from Ofsted, it certainly offers outstanding stories from real teachers and tells us what they really think – as, believe it or not, kids aren’t always angels and teachers are only human. Their overworked, underpaid and often close to a mental breakdown. So think of this as teacher therapy. The Staff Room Podcast is the only place to hear the most honest and hilarious insight into the world of education, so forget parents evening, this podcast is where teachers tell the truth as you’ve never heard it before.
Speaking of The Staff Room, Harry Stachini explains: “The reason I created The Staff Room came after I’d worked in schools for a few years where I’d been spat at, punched, kicked and reminded that I’ve got a big forehead (that last one is what hurt the most). I figured it was about time people saw what teachers really have to put up with – it’s no wonder they get 6 week holidays and gifted wine at the end of the year! The Staff Room Podcast is basically a celebration of silliness.”
Harry performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2019 with his brilliantly funny debut show ‘Tigers Don’t Cry’. Drawing from his experience of working as a teacher in a PRU and 1:1 support for kids with challenging behaviour. He quickly made a name for himself as a sharp comedian with mature “Observations… he does well to characterise the kids he worked with respectfully, making them both endearing and funny”. – The Skinny
The Staff Room boasts hours of comedy gold with some of the UK’s finest up and coming comedians, it has got something for everyone and is sure to remind you of the good old days of school.
