Online GCSE Tutors 

We are a provider of Alternative Provision (tutoring and mentoring) for students from KS2 through to young adults, working closely with BCP Council, Dorset Council, Herefordshire Council and many local schools (and potentially more councils in 2027). Due to increased demand and future growth opportunities, we are looking to hire additional contractors for online GCSE tutors (any subject considered) with a September 2026 start or earlier. This is a perfect opportunity for former or part-time teachers. 

Students would usually have online lessons from home, but it could take place in school, a public library, or our newly opened Hub @ Flaming Peaches (28 Benson Road, Nuffield Estate, Poole). You must have a secure environment from which to deliver tuition (e.g. spare room or private office) and have confidence in using digital tools. 

A full recruitment process and sample interview lesson will take place, along with all the usual personnel checks, qualification verification and reference requests. 

Sessions are typically arranged for 1 or 1.5 hours each, between 9am and 4pm Monday-Friday. Work is term-time only, with negotiable days/times and potential for multiple students back-to-back. 

Pay 

Above rates are for 1:1 only. Enhanced rates available for small group tuition. 

Must have: 

● Confidence and passion for GCSE subject. 

● Ability to project-manage yourself. 

● Experience with preparing students for examinations. 

● DBS Enhanced certificate (within last 3 years). 

● DBS Update Service subscription. 

● PGCE/QTS and degree. 

● Safeguarding Level 2 training (or be prepared to acquire). 

● PREVENT training within the last year (or be prepared to acquire).

● Self-employed status (or be prepared to acquire). 

● Have the right to work in the UK. 

● Valid tutoring insurance (or be prepared to acquire).

● Experience of working with students with SEND. 

● Strong ICT and communication skills. 

● Good personality and empathy. 

● Up-to-date CV which includes full employment history. 

● Access to all qualification certificates for validation. 

● Understanding of the importance of safeguarding, and will follow all policies and procedures. 

● Minimum 2 relevant referees for references 

Prefer: 

Experience of teaching in a school/college/alternative provision. 

Ability to offer multiple GCSE subject(s) or ASDAN short courses. 

Commitment to a student(s) for the mid-to-long-term. 

Open to development/training opportunities. 

Experience of creating digital resources and/or eLearning 

Examination experience.
