Join the Canopy Education Team
About Canopy Education
Canopy Education is a Community Interest Company (CIC) based in the United Kingdom. We use digital technology to enhance teaching and learning. We work with schools, colleges, universities and trusts across the UK and internationally.
We are a Google for Education Partner (K12 and HE) and a Canva Education Training Partner. Our team includes Google Certified Trainers, Innovators and Coaches working across Primary, Secondary, FE, Higher Education and international settings.
We’re growing and changing, and this time we’re doing recruitment a little differently. Rather than advertising a fixed job title, we want to meet talented people first and shape the role around what they bring.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for an Education Technology Trainer (working title) to join our team. At its core, this is a training role: you’ll spend much of your time with teachers and staff, helping them use technology well. You’ll also help us grow by finding new opportunities with schools and partners, and you’ll manage the projects you’re responsible for from start to finish.
Beyond that, we’re open-minded. You might have a background in schools, further education, higher education, digital learning, product or platform support, or something we haven’t thought of. Tell us what you’re great at, and we’ll explore how it fits.If you’re the right person, the role could grow into a leadership position.
What you might do
Everyone at Canopy delivers training. Expect to spend at least 2 days a week training in a school, college, university, trust or at an event, in the UK and sometimes overseas.
Depending on your strengths, you might also take on one or more of these:
- Training and professional development: plan and deliver sessions on Google Workspace, Gemini, Canva and digital pedagogy, in person and online.
- Higher Education: support universities and colleges with digital learning, AI and faculty development programmes.
- Digital platforms: help schools get the most from Google Workspace for Education, Education Plus, Gemini for Education and ChromeOS, and support our own online tools and booking platforms.
- Growing our work: promote our services, follow up leads, meet school and trust leaders, write proposals and turn conversations into booked training.
- Project management: plan and coordinate training programmes, funded projects and events. That covers scheduling trainers and consultants, managing budgets and timelines, and keeping partners and schools up to date.
- Events and programmes: support white-label events such as the Google Champions Symposium, the Certified Innovator Program and certification bootcamps.
- Content and resources: create courses, guides, videos and resources for educators.
As a Community Interest Company, our focus is impact. The role will have clear targets for new training bookings and the number of teachers and students we reach, and you’ll be supported to meet them.
What we’re looking for
Essential
- Experience supporting the use of technology in education, and a real passion for its impact on teaching and learning.
- Confidence delivering training to adults, whether to a room of 10 or a school hall of 200.
- Strong, up-to-date skills in Google Workspace (we’re a bit geeky about it at Canopy).
- Great communication skills and a team-player attitude. We work remotely and collaborate through Google Meet and Chat.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to run several projects at once for different schools, partners, and deadlines.
- Confidence in talking to school leaders about what they need, and turning that into a proposal and a booking.
- Proactivity and resourcefulness in a small team spread across several time zones.
- Comfort with a job description that evolves as new projects come our way.
Desirable
Please mention any of these in your application:
- Google Certified Educator, Gemini Certified Educator, Trainer, Coach or Innovator
- Canva Certified Teacher
- Experience in Higher Education or Further Education
- Experience with Google Admin Console, ChromeOS or other education platforms
- Experience creating online courses, video, or learning resources
FAQ
Why isn’t there a fixed job title?
We have a few areas where we could use extra capacity, and we’d rather find the right person than force a fit. We’ll shape the final role together after the interview.
Do I need to be based in the UK?
Yes. The role involves delivering training in UK schools, colleges and universities.
Where do I work?
Remotely, from home, when you’re not delivering training on site. Expect to spend a good deal of time in schools and at events, including regular overnight stays.
Is this full-time or part-time?
Either. We’re happy to discuss what works for you.
Is there a sales element to the role?
Yes, but it’s not cold-calling. Most of our work comes from relationships with schools, trusts, and partners like Google and Canva. You’ll help grow those relationships, follow up leads and write proposals, and you’ll have targets for new bookings.
How is the salary calculated?
Based on the UK Teacher / Lead Practitioner / Leadership Pay Scale, reflecting your experience and current rate.
What benefits are offered?
A company pension with Nest (5% employer contribution) and YuLife, which rewards walking, cycling and mindfulness and includes GP and mental health support.
What holidays do you offer?
Full-time staff receive 28 days’ paid annual leave, plus a closed period over Christmas that doesn’t count towards leave.
Canopy Education CIC is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We want our team to represent all sections of society and the educators we serve.
